Let Yourself Be a Beginner
Some Mondays hit like a cold open with no context. You wake up, look around, and think, “Wait… what show is this again?”
If that’s you today, you’re in good company.
I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way) that the fastest way to kill momentum is expecting yourself to show up on Monday fully polished and ready to deliver an Emmy-worthy performance. Most of the good stuff in my life started awkward, uneven, and completely unglamorous. Writing. Reinventing. Grieving. Healing. Building something new. All of it began with me fumbling through a first draft of… whatever this version of my life was going to be.
Beginnings aren’t supposed to look smooth. They’re supposed to look brave.
So if today feels shaky, let it. If you’re feeling clumsy getting back into your routine, welcome to the human club. And if you’re trying to step into a new creative chapter, career shift, or personal reinvention, give yourself permission to be a beginner. Beginners make the best stories anyway.
And while we’re talking about new chapters… something big is coming in 2026. Subscribe to my newsletter linked here to be the first to know. You’ll be glad you stuck around for this plot twist.
Stay tuned.
